In 2008 Dr. Douglas Post Park led a team of archaeologists on an expedition into the northern fringes of the West African Sahel to explore the ancient remains scattered throughout the desert. The incredible discoveries made by this initial team, resulted in a three year research program that revealed the deep and complex history of one of the world’s most alluring and mysterious cities: Timbuktu.
